Astronauts.

You have been hired as a scientist for NASA and for your first assignment you have to develop research on how the behavior of astronauts changes from the period before they launch into space to the period following their return to earth. Use the methods of research to describe how you come to your hypothesis.

Different studies have outlined that space exploration could result to orthostatic hypotension, upon the return. This is because, when there is no force of gravity, or sometimes even less force of gravity, the internal fluids such as blood, tends to collect on the upper side of the body, which as a result, it causes facial edema. When the astronauts come back to earth from space, the body fluids tends to pool in the lower regions again. This result causes the orthostatic hypotension as mentioned above Astronouts Behaviour Change Research Paper. Most of we astronauts, when we visit to space, on the return, we reflect symptoms of transient anxiety, or sometimes even depression. Perez (2020), brings to our attention that most astronauts who visit space more occasionally experience reduction in muscle and stability, which is caused be the reduction of gravity. It also affects largely the legs. According to NASA, astronauts tend to lose as much muscles, varying between 20% to 40%, and functions when they visit space for quite a long time.

Perez (2020) outlines that most of the astronauts are affected by emotion sickness upon the return to earth due to gravity. As we all know, gravity is the force that pulls us down to ground. Lack of gravity in space, or sometimes low gravity variation in space, allows astronauts to float around which is fun. But again, this causes space sickness such as disorientation, nausea among other sickness, which is felt by the majority of the astronauts Astronouts Behaviour Change Research Paper. The NASA team addresses space sickness as “space adaptation syndrome”.

Describe three situations: one using the functionality perspective, another one using the conflict perspective, and the last using the interactionist perspective. Describe how each relates to the six influential sociologists (listed in the overview) and Macrosociology or Microsociology.

Different scholarly studies have dissect the importance of perspectives in the sociologists theoretical diagrams which are meant to explain how the society might influence the people and vice verse. There are different types of the sociological perspective. The three main ones include the symbolic interactionism, the symbolic functionality and the conflict theory, as mentioned before. All this sociological perspectives have different levels of analysis and different focus. For instance, symbolic interactionism lies in the microsociology level of analysis, and it focuses on the use of symbols, it entails face to face intercourses. The symbolic functionality on the other hand, uses macrosociology level of analysis Astronouts Behaviour Change Research Paper. This type of sociological perspective focuses on how parts of the society interacts. It also elaborates more on the functionality of the society. Conflicts theory focuses on the relation between the weak and the poor. Conflict theory is a macrosociology that influences people to compete for the resources that are inadequate Haughton Mifflin Harcourt (2020).

The interactionist of the symbolic perspective provides sociologists the ability to consider the symbols and their meanings in the day-to-day life, and the way people interact with each other. It is hard to detect the symbolic acts of an individual who does not interact with people in the daily basis. Interaction is commonly practiced in the world today. The invention of the advanced in technology has led to the growth in the social side of life. The use of social media, among other website channel as a way of socializing has made the world a global village. People do not have to travel, so a a to meet their friends and relatives Astronouts Behaviour Change Research Paper. Though the use of social media and website channels, have made this easier to interact with people from your home. This is becoming popular In the todays world as people are trying to cut down the cost of living and extravagance.

Describe the sociological imagination of a current event. How does it play into your personal life?

Sociological imagination refers to the ability in which an individual is able to see things and relate them in the social life, and how they influence and interact among each other. For an individual to achieve these sociological imagination, different studies relates by putting across that it is important to chink from the point of an alternative individual. This strength is beneficial to the development of a sociological perspective on the world.

Sociological imagination plays a very big role to an individual’s personal life. Some of these roles are, it relates personal troubles with the public issues, it links the biography and the history, in order to give the complete sense of the specific anxieties and crisis in the society at large.

Imagine it is the Marx Era and your family is wealthy. Your father is a respected doctor. How would Karl Marx’s views on how societies develop and the factors on group domination affect your family? Explain your reasoning.

Karl Marx lived during the 19th century in the year brackets between 1818 to 1883. He was an author, philosopher, a social theorist, and also an economist. He was commonly known on the books he wrote about capitalism and communism. Karl Heinrich Marx, from German married Jenny Von Westphalen in the year 1843. Karl Marx, in his theories of historical materialism, the communities had to pass through six different phases, which are; primitive, communism, slave society, capitalism, feudalism, socialism, global, and community that is stateless. SparkNotes (2020) outlines that Karl Marx’s conflict theory was commonly based on two different classes of people in the society: the proletariat and the bourgeoisie. The bourgeoisie own the production means such as the factories, equipment needed for a specific production, and businesses. Marx had the ability to predict a workers’ upheaval. The book, Historical Materialism, by an author – Marx, is part of the idea that different aspects of a community rise and fall from time to time Astronouts Behaviour Change Research Paper
