Electronic medical records (EMRs) are recent developments catalyzed by the technology available in the healthcare sector. Implementing EMR in healthcare facilities has been associated with multiple benefits that can increase the quality of care a patient receives and a significant decrease in errors. This is due to the ability of EMRs to create, collect, manage and analyze patient information, plus the ability to send and share patient information among healthcare providers within the healthcare sector. Benefits Of Electronic medical records in healthcare facilities The easy accessibility of patient information like their diagnosis, lab results, and every medical history eliminates the chances of making errors in treatment through wrong medication (McGlade & Scott-Hayward, 2019). Medical record history is critical when making treatment decisions. Through the opportunity provided by the EMR to share medical information concerning a patient, healthcare workers have the chance to take advantage and learn more about the patient, such as their previous treatment, lab reports, and their allergies, among other information relevant for making an appropriate medical judgment. Benefits Of Electronic medical records in healthcare facilities This reduces the chances of making an error when issuing medication since aspects such as allergies are considered. Additionally, access to past medical records about the patient from past medical care settings can help determine a long-term illness or the signs of a particular illness, thereby helping change the type of mediation (Mammen et al., 2019). At times, a patient may be treated with no positive results since the alternative medications being issued are not effective as expected. Using these medical records, a healthcare worker can change the medication and issue a set of new medications expected to increase care quality.
