The Basic Education Act 2013 in Kenya placed the financial management of public secondary schools under the Principal (Chief Accounting Officer). However, it has been stated that management personnel in learning institutions undergo challenges while managing institution funds (Ministry of Education, 2012). A study done by Magak, (2013) found that school administrators in managing school funds face diversified problems. These include inefficiency in procurement, inadequate and irregular auditing, lack of accounting supporting documents and records and inability to prepare end year financial statements among others.
