Solution
consideration of bioethical principles such as beneficence, nonmaleficence, and justice can therefore help both nurse leaders and healthcare teams effectively navigate the numerous ethical issues they encounter in healthcare settings.
Safe Nursing Practice and Health Environment
From the course, my main takeaway was that the ideal way of maintaining safe nursing practice and a safe healthcare environment is to consistently adopt quality measures in a healthcare facility. With proper tracking, a healthcare facility can gain awareness of the areas that need improvement and specific successes. Having adequate and relevant results-related quality measures in a healthcare facility can therefore help to enhance the safety of a healthy environment and improve the standards of nursing practice (Allen-Duck et al., 2017).
Healthcare Errors
Errors in the healthcare environment affect different stakeholders in different ways. For nurses, errors in healthcare facilities can result in stress and loss of jobs. For healthcare facilities, medical errors can result in financial losses as a result of lawsuits and settlements for damages. On the other hand, consumers pay for healthcare errors with their life or long-term negative effect on the quality of life and therefore are the most affected by such errors. The main role of legislators is to enact policies that reduce the incidence of healthcare errors (Allen-Duck et al., 2017).
Quality Improvement
My main takeaway from the course related to quality improvement was that nurse leaders and nurses should consistently adopt quality improvement measures in healthcare facilities. The use of proven quality improvement models can enhance the implementation of quality improvement plans in healthcare facilities. For instance, the use of the road to evidence-based practice model can help in the effective implementation of quality improvement plans in healthcare systems (Allen-Duck et al., 2017).
Conclusion
In summary, nurse leaders need to streamline organizational structures such as the use of the integrated practice units and then adopt the right leadership styles to effectively deal with the main challenges in the American healthcare system. To address the current issues facing the American healthcare system, such as the skyrocketing costs and nursing shortages, different approaches such as the adoption of a value-based care delivery model can be utilized. The efficient care delivery model consistently promotes quality improvement initiatives, reduces healthcare errors, and enhances nursing practice and healthcare environments. Ethical decision-making in healthcare delivery is also central to the value-based care delivery model.
