Discussion Question -Topic 2 DQ 1

In the implementation of my project to introduce trauma-informed care and promote the holistic well-being of children who have gone through traumatic events, I may experience challenges related to lack of adequate resources and general resistance to change among the targeted healthcare providers. The stakeholders that could assist me in the implementation of my project include the executive management in the healthcare facility and the managers of different health care units (Stouten et al., 2018). The executive management would assist me in the implementation of my project by approving and allocating resources in terms of both finances and human resources. The executive management would therefore allocate the necessary finances required to introduce the trauma-informed care project in the healthcare facility. The executive management would also provide finances to hire the additional human resources needed to train all the health caregivers in the healthcare facility about trauma-informed care.  On the other hand, the managers in the different units of the healthcare facility would assist me in implementing my trauma-informed care project by leading the change process and consistently assisting their subordinates in adopting the proposed changes. The managers who therefore play a vital role in dealing with resistance to change across the healthcare facility (Stouten et al., 2018).

The model that I would use to introduce trauma-informed care in the healthcare facility is Kurt Lewin’s change model. Lewin’s change model involves three vital steps in introducing the change. These include unfreezing, changing, and refreezing (Hussain et al., 2018). During the unfreezing stage, I would educate all the concerned health caregivers about trauma-informed care and how they can utilize the approach effectively to promote the holistic well-being of children who have gone through traumatic events. The second step would include introducing trauma-informed care as the main treatment approach in a healthcare facility. The final step would be refreezing, which would entail making trauma-informed care the standard practice in the healthcare facility.
