Discussion Question Topic 6 DQ 1

When reviewing literature and different types of evidence for my trauma-informed care interventions project, I encountered numerous gaps in findings. One of the most notable gaps I came across was the lack of definition of the specific age groups of the children who were provided with trauma-informed care interventions in different studies such as Maynard et al. (2019) and (Jankowski et al., 2019). By not providing the specific ages of children who were provided with trauma-informed care interventions in their studies the authors o therefore reduced the credibility of their studies credibility. Other researchers in the future need to consider providing the specific ages of the children that are exposed to trauma informed care interventions. Such studies can therefore provide an accurate evaluation of the effectiveness of trauma-informed care interventions among children.

Most of the explored studies such as Bartlett et al., (2016)  only compared trauma-informed care interventions with prolonged exposure therapy and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy. This two approaches are therefore not the only traditional trauma treatment approaches with other approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy, hypnotherapy, group therapy, and psychodynamic therapy among others. In the future researchers seeking to prove the effectiveness of trauma-informed care interventions compared to traditional approaches of treating trauma therefore need to consider a wide range of traditional approaches including hypnotherapy, CBT, and psychodynamic therapy so as to fill the gap in research related to these areas. Finally most of the explored studies in my literature review were systematic reviews and qualitative studies. In the future more researchers need to conduct randomized experimental design studies that can accurately show the effectiveness of trauma-informed care interventions compared to traditional approaches.
