The main benefit of WBS is that it helps to determine the scope of a project. Since it defines costs, it helps in the budgetary planning process. Also, it plays a vital role in defining the responsibilities of all stakeholders in the project completion process. The tool is also essential since it outlines points in which communication between different stakeholders is needed(Al-Hajj and Zraunig 24). Also, it enhances understanding of the project by all stakeholders, including the clients. Last, it prevents duplication of assigned activities and avoids ambiguities.

Impact of WBS Project Success

WBS increases project success since it significantly enhances the possibility of meeting the set goals. Second, WBS enhances the ability to gauge the success of each project milestone or task (Vargas 39). Further, it increases the ability to complete the project within the required time and the set budget.

Tools to monitor project Schedule

The most widely used tool to monitor the project schedule after completion is the Gantt chart. The tool displays the starting and completion dates for each project activity. A network diagram can be used, which shows relationships between different project activities (Al-Hajj and Zraunig 25). The critical path diagram is also used, and it is made up of a sequence of the specific activities to be completed. The WBS can also be used for that purpose.

Handling Resource Overallocation

Resource overallocation occurs when there are more tasks than can be handled by the available resources within the set duration. The problem is solved using one or more strategies that are effective. One of the strategies is changing relationships between activities. Project fast-tracking involves identifying activities that can be completed at the same time. Doing so helps to reduce the timeframe for completing a project. One of the merits is that it helps to reduce or eradicate order backlogs. Second, fast-tracking enables a firm to be among the first to implement new technologies and sell the resulting goods and services in the market. In some cases, such as in the construction process, it helps to reduce costs (Vargas36). Last, it helps to increase collaboration when two activities are done at the same time. However, fast-tracking may lead to quality and planning issues. Last, the client may not understand the fast-tracking process, leading to dissatisfaction.
